Sizing Guide

At Pawsitively Primped appointments are booked by size.

Here is a size guide to help you determine which category your pet fits into. Height in inches are measured at the withers, shown in the diagram.

Small Dogs: under 20 lbs and under 10 inches at the withers.

Medium dogs: 21 - 45lbs and 11 - 20 inches at the withers.

Large dogs: 46 to 65 lbs and over 20 inches at the withers.

Due to tub size limitations dogs over 65 lbs 24 inches need to be screened for safety.

Pricing guide

At this salon pricing is based on a combination of size, coat condition, and difficuty of the service provided.

Prices on the booking menu are meant to be a guideline. Final prices may be higher or lower than what is written.

Longer, thicker, and over due coats take longer to wash, dry and groom, and will be charged accordingly.

Cancellations and Holiday Season

24 Hour Notice

I understand life happens and cancellations become necessary. Please be courteous and give notice. There will be a charge for no-call no-shows, and cancellations without proper notice. You may email me at melissa@pawsitivelyprimped.com or text the shop at 925-284-7757. Do NOT reply to the automated reminder, it is a computer service and does not receive messages. Proper notice is 24 business hours, the fee is the price of the appointment. I am open Monday through Friday, a Monday cancellation must be done Friday by 5pm.

Holiday Season

Holidays are my busiest time. I understand everyone wants a fresh smelling pet, and I do my best to get everyone in. So due to high call volumes, walk-ins, and the sheer volume of pets I need your patience. The grooming times may be longer. Same day appointments are still appointments, so please be on time for them.

No-shows are subject to a fee. On extra busy days I may not be able to give specific times out. I also need people to pick up their pets as soon as they are ready to make room for more pets, so I can't do holds on extra busy days. We appologize for any inconvienence and are so very grateful you chose Pawsitively Primped!

SHOP POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Size Restrictions and Cat Policies

Due to the needs of the community and lack of Lamorinda grooming shops this shop is now accommodating dogs up to 65lbs. We will consider larger dogs on a case by case basis. If you would like to be considered please call or text. I am not taking new cat clients currently for full service. I still do nail trims and other "a la carte" services for all breeds and cats. I am more than happy to make recommendations of shops that take larger pets and cats.

Hours, Closing and Holds

Although I am usually in the shop at 9 am Monday through Friday, I do work by appointment. Example, if no one is scheduled until 10:00, no one will be here until around 9:30. I also do not have a scheduled closing time. I am appointment based; I close when the last pet is picked up. I don't mind keeping your pet if I'm busy and going to be working late but I try to get everyone home promptly after grooming. Please let me know when you book your appointment if you need a pick up later than your service time. There is a charge for pets picked up late and/or left overnight. This is a small shop and I have family, sometimes shop days and hours may change due to my parental duties. I do my best give notice when it affects appointments.

Timing

Please be aware the timing on each appointment is an approximation.The average groom time is two to four hours for a haircut, 1.5 to 2 hours for a face feet and tail, and 1to 2 hours for a bath and deshedding. Due to the nature of this business, grooming time may be longer or shorter than the time on the service menu. Working with live animals (and people) is not an exact science and I may need more time for your pet. If you have any time restraints, please let me know as soon as possible. I always do my best to accommodate your scheduling needs. If your pet is matted and needs to be combed out I will either send them home for you to work on or cut under the matts. I do not do extensive de-matting. Keeping the pet brushed out is the responsibility of the pet owner. I offer walk-in brush out service to help combat the mats! If your pet has health or behavior problems it will take longer, please expect longer service time. For your first appointment I will need information about you and your pet. Please expect to spend a few minutes when you drop off your pet. If you have someone else drop off your pet for the first time, make sure they have health information and instructions for the service you want. Be sure to be available to talk by phone or text around your appointment time or please call ahead to clarify your preferences.

Late for your appointment? Please give me a call or text, I usually can accommodate late arrivals. Please be aware late arrivals in excess of 15 minutes may be canceled or considered a walk-in and will be treated as such. There are no guarantees on timing as your pet will be put behind the other appointments. Cancelling your appointment due to walk- in status will be charged as a no-call no-show.

Safety

I love pets! I have devoted my life to them. That said, some pets are unable to be completed by me due to their temperament while being groomed. This is a safety-first shop for me and your pet. If I don't believe I can provide a safe, positive experience for your pet, I will have to send it home. Also, animals that exhibit symptoms of illness will be sent home immediately. Please have someone available to pick up your pet in the event of illness. This is not a "free range" shop. I do not allow pets to interact, and pets must go into a crate. You can opt to have an express service (I do the pet start to finish without any crating) for an additional fee $35 - $60 depending on breed and difficulty. I don't recommend that for the pets, as it is a lot to expect from them with no breaks. Matts, they happen. This is a cruelty free shop: I do not do extensive dematting here, my policy is to shave under the matts. Keeping pets free of matts is the responsibility of the pet owner. I will not brush out or shave down pets if I do not believe the matts can be removed safely. Removing matts can be a very dangerous service and may result in an injury to your pet. Examples: brush burn, cuts, nicks, hematomas, and clipper burn. I am not responsible for injuries due to matting. Please be aware I have the right to refuse service at anytime for any reason.

Potty Talk

I do my best to get everyone out in a timely manner. To help with this I need to make sure I can work on your pet without any accidents interrupting. Please be courteous to your pets, make sure they have emptied themselves before bringing them to their appointment. Also, if you have an early morning appointment try not to feed your pet prior to arriving unless it has had ample time to toilet. Pets that potty in the shop will now incur a fee of $25. It puts me behind schedule with the disinfecting, changing clothes, re-washing pets, etc. I thank you for your understanding and help with this matter.

Pick Up

If you are wondering if your pet is done please call or text. DO NOT show up! If you show up early, I will send the dog home as is. You will be charged the full price of the grooming. It is not safe to work on some pets while their owners are here. Live animals, sharp tools, and excitement can cause accidents resulting in injuries to your pet. Also if you call or text and don't get a response right away, please be patient. I am one person and I will get back to you as soon as I can!
